Ametco powder coating process is solvent free. The powder is formulated using finley ground pigments and resins with zero solvents resulting in a clean air finish and next to zero VOCs. The electrostatic powder to substrate process equates to very little overspray, of which 98% can be retrieved and reused. This would qualify for LEED points only if it is used indoors. Ametco is continuing to work on improving their product line. These changes may increase the LEED points your project can earn.
Recycling aluminum, of course, saves bauxite, saves on the disposing of scrap aluminum, and conserves energy. Remelting scrap to produce new aluminum takes less than 5% of the energy needed to make metal from bauxite. Cardinal Architectural WeatherGuard Systems recycles 100% of its scrap through the foundries of local recyclers and uses recycled aluminum on all its painted and anodized matte finishes.
