Project Overview

Affordable housing is a challenge for every university or college. However Columbia University had the additional element of trying to do it in pricey upper Manhattan. To find a price competitive self-leveling underlayment, their project managers looked no farther than AccuCrete for the solution.

Project Details

The 12 story building affordable housing apartments for Columbia University students also needed to be "green" using environmentally sustainable materials that increased energy efficiency. The building is designed to utilize new precast concrete plank floors, which present an uneven floor surface. Our partner Elite Floors chose AcceLevel G50 to finish the floors with a hard, level surface.

Solution

Elite Floors chose AccuLevel G50 for the job and poured 160 tons of concrete to a depth ranging from 3/8" to 2". AccuLevel G50 was selected because it's a specially engineered blended cement containing polymer modified portland cement and high strength gypsum at a very competitive price. AccuLevel G50 does not require sand. Just add water and pour.
