Project Overview

Midtown Manhattan saw the restoration and expansion of the Helmsey Carlton House for 161 hotel rooms into 68 luxury apartments. Designed in 1940 and completed in 1950, the restoration required extensive updating to the existing infrastructure, the least of which was their out-of-level floors.

Project Details

Before construction could begin in earnest, there were 15 floors of distressed concrete floors that needed to be leveled, and three additional stories added on top that needed the same. Our partner Elite Floors was awarded the project based on their expertise and competitive price.

Solution

Elite Floors selected AccuLevel G50 due to its high performance and consistent quality. 8,300 bags were eventually used in the project. AccuLevel G50 is an engineered blended cement containing polymer modified portland cement and high strength gypsum. It delivers an aggregate free leveling compound, with a smooth, hard, residue-free surface.
