Garden Roof Assembly - Intensive
The landscape possibilities with an Intensive Garden Roof® Assembly are virtually limitless. Intended for recreational, sporting and leisure purposes, they are often indistinguishable from at-grade landscapes.
An intensive assembly follows the same design concept as an extensive assembly; however, the Gardendrain® component has a taller profile and is filled with expanded aggregate to provide greater water storage and to support a greater depth of growing media.
The depth of the intensive growing media, which contains a greater amount of organic matter than an extensive blend, will generally dictate the type and size of plants that can be grown. Intensive designs usually consist of a mixture of hard and soft landscaping and incorporate plants that require regular maintenance, such as watering, fertilizing and mowing. The variety of plants possible is numerous, including sod grass lawns, perennial and annual flowers, shrubs, and even small trees. It is important, therefore, that the selected Gardendrain components can support any type of landscape from terraces and paths, to soil and trees, so as to permit excess water to drain unobstructed beneath.
When used in conjunction with Hydrotech's full line of hardscape elements, such as architecturally finished pavers and precast items, the system is ideal for roofs and plazas that will serve as pedestrian recreational areas.
