The Portland Loo

The Portland Loo is a single occupant public restroom that is free and available to the public 24/7 365. Designed by and built for Portland, Oregon the Portland Loo has been implemented in 90+ locations in the United States, Canada and New Zealand. Intended to prevent crime, reduce maintenance costs and be easily cleaned, the Portland Loo is designed to be convenient for city staff that maintain and supervise the restroom. The Portland Loo has won 2012 Canadas Best Public Restroom by Cintas and is continued to be recognized as a simple solution to a universal problem in small and large cities. The Portland Loo compact design fits in a parking space and uses stainless steel construction that can be expected to last 100 years with proper maintenance. Connected to water and sewer, the restroom uses minimal utilities and provides a hand washing station and bottle filler on the outside of the restroom. Anti-graffiti coating, and blue lights are used to prevent drug use and open louvers are used to prevent crime along with Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles. First installed in 2008, the restroom has been tested to continuously improve the design and add new features to best suite each unique location.
