Project Details

Location
Broward County, FL, USA

The outdoor gym at Plantation Heritage Park is a multigenerational and inclusive space that provides for park users to workout with a view that includes a nearby lake and fountain. A variety of exercises can be done at this gym with a mix of Legacy Series, Signature Accessible units and Functional Fitness units.

The Legacy Series units in the project use a proportion of body weight for resistance. Two of the machines included in the project are the Rower and 4-Person Leg Press. Legacy Series units are great for beginners and seniors because they are low-impact.

Wheelchair accessible machines are also available to use at this park. The patented Signature Accessible line (U.S. Patent 9,079,069) allows individuals in wheelchairs to work out alongside their able-bodied peers.

The Hexagon Extreme Functional Fitness Rig can serve 12 users at a time. It includes features such as the ball target, rotating pull-up wheel, captain’s chair and parallel bars. The rig has pour-in-place rubber surfacing underneath due to the critical fall height.

Park planners wanted to include shade over the whole fitness zone to give relief from the hot Florida sun. There are also site amenities like benches and trash cans to complete the space.

Plantation Heritage Park allows its park goers to soak up the benefits of outdoor or “green” exercise. According to the Washington Post, 15 minutes of green exercise can help with ability to focus and invoke feelings of tranquility. This park is beautiful and a fitness destination for those wanting to getaway to nature for a little while.
