The extraordinary centerpiece of Hudson Yards is its spiral staircase, a soaring new landmark meant to be climbed. This interactive artwork was imagined by Thomas Heatherwick and Heatherwick Studio as a focal point where people can enjoy new perspectives of the city and one another from different heights, angles and vantage points.

After conquering Vessel’s thousands of stairs, the opportunity to relax and recharge awaits below in the Public Square. Maglin’s colorful Kontur chairs (in orange, purple and red) and Battery tables provide flexible seating that encourages people to curate the space to suit their needs. A family can arrange multiple Kontur chairs around a Battery table for a traditional seating setup while a couple friends may prefer to sit ‘bistro’ style. The flexibility to move Kontur chairs and Battery tables also allows for configurations that fully integrate persons with accessibility needs.

Kontur chairs are a practical addition to Hudson Yards’ Public Square from a space management perspective as well. On occasions when the seating elements need to be stored temporarily, the chairs will stack up to 6 high, minimizing their footprint. Kontur chairs are lightweight enough to be movable, yet durably made of welded steel -- designed to thrive in public spaces where they will experience heavy use and exposure to the elements.
