Detroit, MI — Justin Booth and the SYNLawn Michigan team completed a large-scale, innovative, outdoor courtyard using SYNLawn artificial grass for the City Club Apartments complex in downtown Detroit as part of the ReBuilDetroit initiative. The unique multi-use space helps bring the residential property to life by incorporating design elements inspired by European streetscapes. The multi-purpose outdoor courtyard allows for 24/7 relaxation zones, fitness opportunities, and pet relief areas, all within a safe and clean environment.

The 12,000 square foot project is part of a massive initiative to rebuild Detroit. “The Motor City” has been under reconstruction since it declared bankruptcy in 2013. The City Club Apartment complex downtown is just one example of Detroit reinvesting in its community. Detroit-based PEA group and its team of civil engineers, land surveyors, and landscape Architects selected SYNLawn due to the artificial grass product’s outstanding reputation and safety features. The group chose SYNRye 200 (SR200) for the project’s primary component, which carries an ASTM E108 Class-A Fire Rating and is perfect for rooftops, terraces, and high-traffic common areas.

As Detroit continues to reinvest in its community, it was clear the common area of the City Club Apartments needed to be renovated, easy to clean, and safe for its occupants. Designers got to work and soon created a one-of-a-kind space including an intricate wavy decorative pattern for the artificial turf, a “Bark Park” for the pets, activity areas, bungalows, a fire pit, and plenty of lounge chairs for tenants. Using SR200 as the main style of turf product used for the project, designers also chose to use the economic features of SYNPro 60 and SYNSport Tan to complete the fashionable aesthetic of the quad.
